Following publication of the French “law for the freedom to choose a professional future” on September 6th, 2018, the Employment Minister, Muriel Pénicaud, announced the creation of a Gender Pay Equality Index.
The aim of this measure is to establish a methodology for determining the level of commitment of companies by means of indicators for the pay gap between men and women, the difference in individual raises, the difference in promotion rate, the number of employees receiving raises on return from maternity leave and the proportion of employees of the under-represented sex in the ten highest paid employees.
